Dr. Tinius has presented at conferences such as The Title III Symposium and the TAASP Summer Workshop. She specializes in instructional leadership, increasing student achievement, supporting learning at high levels, and teaching strategies that support students from special populations all the way from LFWR (Low For Whatever Reason), SpEd, 504, and MTSS/RTI, to GT. Dr. Tinius is also a Maxwell Leadership Speaker. She is passionate about personal growth, professional growth, and youth leadership.
Dr. Tinius’ passion for education and youth ministry grew out of her years of experience in mission work. She lived in Lisbon, Portugal and Moscow, Russia teaching English using the Bible. She has served on multiple medical mission trips teams to Mexico and Honduras, and has served on service missions teams to Ciudad de Angeles (an orphanage in Mexico) and to the Philippines.
Dr. Tinius is also a talented vocalist & musician. In high school she sang in a Christian, semi-professional acapella group in Austin that traveled throughout the state of Texas. She was also known for her powerful version of The National Anthem: performances included singing at a dinner in honor of George W. Bush. In college, she performed in various variety shows, and private functions, and she also sang in various concerts as part of the University of North Texas choir. She also played percussion from middle school through college, and was part of the elite UNT Drumline and the Green Brigade marching band at UNT. She also plays piano.
Her passion for education, ministry, music and the arts blended with her passion specifically for student discipleship led her to start this school of the arts for young Christian artists who have the opportunity to change culture for Christ through the arts.
“There is no greater calling than investing in our youth. The public school system is not working in the best interest of students, teachers, or families. As a teacher and as an administrator, I have seen a significant increase in student apathy, mental illness, and disciplinary issues over the past 4 years. I have also witnessed a significant decline in the authority of administrators and teachers to effectively handle student discipline and violence. Students and teachers deserve a safe learning and teaching environment where they can thrive. I’m working diligently with our team to provide that environment. The fact is that the arts control culture! We have such a huge opportunity for ministry through the arts: from visual art, to music, books and literature, movies, shows, the theater, dance, etc. The harvest is ready but the workers are few, so our mission is To Launch Christian Artists Who Use Their Talents To Lead People To Christ. Our students will receive an education grounded in apologetics so that they are not only able to articulate their faith, they are able to defend it. We are focused on Biblical truth, the highest levels of education and standards, and professional experiences that students will only get at The Premier Academy of Fine Arts of North Texas.” - Dr. Tinius
